Since January 2005, EU Regulation (EC) 178/2002 have ben in force throughout Europe to help guarantee food safety for consumers. Food producers have a duty to provide traceability of raw materials and products through all stages of production, processing and distribution. Records must be kept for at least the shelf life of the product and information must be produced on demand to the competent authorities. There are no exemptions for small businesses and 'due diligence' is no defense against prosecution. Penalties for failing to comply are heavy.
OPUS Traceability software can help food manufacturers to comply with the law, limit losses, protect brand value and minimise business risks in the event of a product recall.
- OPUS Traceability software covers all activities from Goods In to Despatch including storage, de-box, recipe formulation, mixing, pack filling, processing.
- Collects data from scales, checkweighers, auto ID scanners, PLCs, Operator terminals, existing computer systems, test instruments etc.
